Saturday Morning consisted of this:

Nokyos I bought didn't fit, wrong size so couldn't change the bulbs.

http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj490/mossmanian1/Misc/004-1.jpg

Looks good. Where did you find the Lamin-X for the fogs over there? Hope the fog bulbs come soon. You will appreciate them even more.

You should try some yellow daytime flasher bulbs. They really get more attention when flashed behind the Slow Ones;

Not 100% mate, bought it from online somewhere, arrived in 2-3 days. Think it was £7 for a sheet, that was enough for two lamps with around 3"x5" left over.

I'm planning to change Xenons to Bi-Xenons, plus over here all headlamp bulbs apart from the indicator must be white, so yellow would get attention from the police etc

Looks nice though!
those yellow lights look way cool, pity about the legalities, the bi xenons are great, my car has them factory fitted and the illumination when using main beam is - wow,,, especially on country roads when they are enclosed by trees etc as its more for the beam to reflect off,,,, the bi xenons where the reason I bought this car,

Never had a problem with mine. Nokya's fitted for full beams and in the fogs. Also Lamin-X'd  :happy2:

cheers eddie, the blower thingy was a metro vac air force blaster
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/metro-vac-air-force-blaster-cat5.html
very expensive and hard to justify over a good leaf blower from b & q but it will do a good job and has slightly heated air, also 4 year warranty, will feedback when I use it but all reviews are superb its just the cost
pre foam thingy was the pa foam lance
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pa-foam-lance-cat2.html
some mixed reviews on this one but IT DOES soften the dirt and make it way easier to wash afterwards, my brother in law uses it
and their all singing and dancing foam
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-finesse-avalanche-cat2.html#aMasterAFAV0000
a bit expensive at £30 but its meant to be one of the best and thickest foams so we will see
some meant to be good shampoo

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-finesse-lather-cat3.html

some nice wool wash mits, sponge going in bin lol

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/flexipads-merino-wool-wash-mitt-cat3.html

some ph neutral wheel cleaner which will be good on the diamond cut monzas

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/r222-wheel-cleaner-regular-cat4.html

some wheel woollies, not sure about this one lol

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb-wheel-woolies-cat4.html#aMasterEFWW0000

couple of buffing towels
http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/pb-luxury-buffing-towel-cat24.html

some wax although on second thought I think I will take it back and go for a higher sheen finish one before I use it, this is the one I bought thoughhttp://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/auto-finesse-temptation-cat13.html

have been using sominiz diamond hard wax up till now which I bought from Tesco at £7.99, seems good enough but I wonder if these dearer ones actually make any difference ?
saying that the one I bought today on the link above wasn't exactly cheap in comparison to my current one,, anybody noticed the difference in these products ?
anyway my detailing spending is done man, you could go stir crazy with the amount of things they recommend then get splashed by a tractor lol.

ps,,,,,, MC-71,,, you gonna have to stop saying ((( clean that car now lol ))) bugger better be shining like a star after all this s**t is used lol

would appreciate peoples thoughts on the wax differences  :drinking:

so whats the story here then, are these coloured fogs legal or not,, yours look cool, how do you think they would look on a black gti ? is it a diff bulb or a cover for them ?
if a cover is it ok from stone chips etc and where can I get some, I guess you just pop the bottom grill off and apply or swap ?
also loving your front grill swap, would be interesting to see it on a black body,,, was it expensive  :happy2:

The colored(<American English) fogs should be OK there, but the DRL highbeam flashers, IDK? The DRL highbeam flasher bulbs in yellow (2 inside) only appear yellow when viewed when standing at certain angles during the daylight. But when you need to flash them in DRL mode they light up yellow. At night they shouldn't light up at all when you use your flashers. Unless your night time high beams are those same inner beams, are they?

edited b/c I didn't make sense before :(  :ashamed:

My understanding is that yellow in not illegal. You only have to go back a few years and you used to see alot of french cars with yellow fogs. Yellow light also has the advantage in poor weather as I believe it does not reflect as much as whiter light. The full beam bulbs and fog light bulbs are both Nokya Hyper Yellows (sourced from the US) which have a colour temp of 2500k thus producing a yellow-er light. Normal xenon's are between 4500-5000k. The fogs are also covered in a plastic film made by a company called Lamin-X. This gives them the yellow look. As you say, its just a matter of removing the lower grills and then 3 screws hold each fog light in.

What do you mean by grill swap? The smooth gloss black bit or the slatted grills instead of honeycombs?

ROH, we don't have DRL's over here. Can probably be coded but they are not necessary. The 2 inner lights are the full beam/flashers. Pull back on the left hand stalk to flash, push forward and they stay on. Only when the dipped headlights are on too.

was referring to the smooth grill, looks nice but not sure how it would look on a black car, may get lost in the colour background I guess.
great info on the fog bulbs, I looked on ecs tuning site for the lamin x but I cant find fog light ones, any ideas where to get this and the correct bulbs at all
do you think the yellow fogs would look ok on a met black 08 gti with bi xenons, no other yellow their obviously but im not sure thinking in my head if it would enhance the front or just look stupid ?
thanks again

^^^^ depends wha look your going for TBH, might look ok, might look sh*te on a black car, give it a go. Its not the cheapest stuff for what it is, you can get some Lamin-X from Lamin-X themselves or from eBay, available in a fair few tints. just remove the fog grills (1 screw), then take your fogs lights out (3 screws), prep them to get rid of any blemishes and stick the Lamin-X on....

....All new cars in the UK now (since this year, 2012) have to have DRL's - A very good thing in my opinion. I have Hella LED DRL's in place of my foglights - Front foglights are not compulsory and are not necessary
