Well after a dilema of how to get bluetooth into my car I finally settled on a Parrot Asteriod Mini.

I originally had a Pioneer AVX3500DAB fitted and my wife absolutely hated it so I had it taken out. Plus the radio reception was shocking too.

Anyway we had a Parrot MKI9200 in the last car and she liked that as the voice dialling worked great, as well as having full ipod control too.

I went to get one of those fitted today and then spotted the Asteroid Mini before I pulled the trigger. They gave me a demo of it and I was sold on it so I gave the go ahead on that, especially when they said they could do it now.

I really wasn't sure where to have the screen and the control buttons installed as there are very few places on the MK5 dash for things like this to go without it looking terrible. I borrowed the screen and showed them where I wanted it to see if it would work there and it did. It sits quite out of the way and only obscures 0-1000 revs which I'm really not bothered about seeing anyway.

So far the system has performed really well and the speech recognition is fantastic, especially as I can tell it to find a track out of the thousands on my ipod and it will just play it.

What do you guys think?

Now that would PROPER annoy me no end where it is. ETTO though and fair play for trying something other than the OEM Bluetooth and RNS setup.

can you mount it above the instrument cluster dash panel section? like just above the edge? shouldn't obscure view

or even just to the left of where you have it now, depending on how its secured, clips? tape?

It wouldn't be possible to mount it at the top as there is a wire at the bottom of the screen.

I'll take the chance on a warning light. It's looked after so I'm not too worried.

He he, thankfully it's not touch screen, it's controlled by the buttons in front of the gearstick I've photographed too.

Sorry to sound stupid but I'm assuming this connects to your iPod via Bluetooth and plays through the car speakers ?

It does loads of stuff. I have my ipod classic connected to it for playing music but you can stream via bluetooth if you prefer. It does play through the speakers too yes.

It should have been £350.00 fitted but I paid £325.00 as I'm a cheeky Yorkshireman LOL!!!
