Finally finished painting my Monza's in Plasti Dip matte black paint!
Cheaper than a refurb and just as effective in my opinion

Can't believe how stunning this car is, especially with that mileage!!

Cheers mate - the car is a dream and the paint is glassy! Will keep it in tip top condition  :happy2:

Had some spare LED 501s so decided to replace the non working ones on the rear dome, but they don't stay in (just fall out) and the cover wont go on over them when you do get them to stay in. Is it easy enough to take the whole holder out of the headliner?

You have to twist the housing once you've replaced the bulbs and put the housing back in? I just removed the main cover, twisted the bulb housing a quarter turn, removed the bulb holder, replace the bulb, replace the bulb holder, twist back in and done. Repeat on other side. The only other thing I can think is that you haven't pushed the bulbs right in to the "socket"? They can get caught on the side contacts. GL.
How did she know?

Probably didn't explain it very well in my post. It's the rear interior dome light I'm having issues with

No, my bad Benny. I didn't read properly!  :ashamed:

When I did the rear dome, it took a few attempts before they sat in - you have to get them absolutely straight in the housing, and push them all the way in - I remember I thought "No way, they can't go in that far"...

Then again, you should be able to get the whole thing out.

Sorry, not much help!

No Problem. I got it sorted not so long ago, it'll work for the time being. I think the connectors themselves may be stretched, because the bulbs still sit a little loose. I'll look into getting a new light and see if that solves the problem.

Wasn't strictly today - but still! Figured that having an ipod dock in the arm rest meant I could plug an ipod in, press cd twice on my RCD300 and boom.. Music!

But no, it doesn't work.. Doesn't register it at all. Does anyone know what I have to do with this one? Same happened when I tried plugging an aux adapter thingy into the back also.. hmm

Went to a local VW garage this afternoon and enquired about fitting a DSG steering wheel to the GTi. They basically said that it's too much hassle, and the wiring between the wheel and the mechatronic unit. When pushed, they said I wouldn't have much change out of €3,000. It's nice to have a good giggle every now & then

Installed LEDS for brake lights and reverse light.

Nice and bright now when I'm reversing into my parking spot at home at night

So much for keeping it standard!
