Straight swap, off with the canisters and on with the foam filters. Really nice sound too, slightly louder then before with canisters but not as loud as the revo I had on a while back. A really nice compromise between the 2. I'm well happy.

So much for keeping it standard!

Oh and some Valeos went on today. Toying with losing the GTi badge.

Not sure about losing the wiper, I use it a lot! It does seem more responsive since changing to filters, quicker pickup.

Picked up the car today after a full engine rebuild. Full top and bottom end redo after 120k miles. It took 7 weeks for them to get done due to shop scheduling, but very happy to have it finally done.  :drinking:

How much did that cost if you don't mind me asking?
I can give you what it costs in U$D...$2600. I got nearly 50% off the labor at VW though. The head rebuild with replacement of the valve guides and stem seals ran $600 parts and labor...the motor at VW was $2000 including one piston, all rings, all rod bearings,  DSG service, and all gaskets and belts. I would guess the cost to be $3600 at full labor costs...without a discount.

Finally rolling again...

Me and my mk5 went for our final drive with her as my daily. Now she is going to be taken off the road and replaced with a Golf R.

Mixed emotions to say the least...

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

So, the car has been in with the guys at R TECH having the map tweaked after the exhaust being changed.

Here's some of the early results from FB.

440.7bhp and 427.7fl/lb.

Cannot wait to get her back, planning Snetterton 300 on September the 17th, should be a good shakedown.

4WD Leon Cupra TTE420 K1, maybe slightly modded.

Can you advise on the price of the tweak?

Just ordered fresh interior door handles and switches with the chrome tips.

Cheaper than I thought - drivers side plastic cover is £10.99; passenger upper and lower parts of the handle are £8 each all inclusive of vat.

Got the switches off German eBay for £20 delivered.
