I've redressed a pair of my wheels after having done this. A flat file, sanding, scuffing all surfaces, NAPHTHA wipe, and repainting is all that's needed now  :drinking:

Today has not been a good day! I have just got back from the garage but without my car, I got a phone call not long after I kerbed my alloy asking if I wanted my bilsteins fitted so I thought that would cheer me up but as soon as it was up on the ramp and the wheels taken off the electric went out in the area.

Can not wait for this day to end!

B14's mate

Just picked the car up now apparently the electric came back on just after midnight but this is what we had to contend with

Because I wasn't there when he finished he just lowered the car a little so I might take it a little lower in the coming weeks but this is how its looking now

Fitted new rear hub to the offside after only doing the nearside 500 miles ago so hopefully the bearings will last another 80 000 miles. But also checked my alloy after hitting a pothole and its buckled, not repairable either. Bidding on a monza on eBay so will collect at the weekend if I win it.

I haven't managed to drive it much but it is so much better than stock I would highly recommend B14's to anyone, the biggest thing I noticed straight away was when cornering at speed the car just feels flat throughout with no body roll and the annoying rear twitch it had before is gone :happy2:
My mate that fitted them took the car out and said its a really nice ride now but its a lot firmer and I have to say it's not at all, it's probably more comfortable than stock but my car did have 90k on the factory fitted suspension which had snapped a rear coil last month and both the front dampers have a little leakage.
I got my B14's from here, I offered £500 and we agreed on £549: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BILSTEIN-B14-PSS-COILOVER-VW-GOLF-5-INCLUDING-GTI-R32-47-127708-/131594914892?

I think my dampers are on they're last legs they don't dampen just feels like your bouncing on springs all time if you know what I mean.
Think bilstein are the safest bet! I know they're proper quality and top boys for suspension so don't think I'm gunna take a risk with the ap coilovers. Plus I don't want them to go rusty after 1 yr :D
I've experience the rear twitch a few times now especially under braking ! It's awful doesn't give you much confidence at all

Machined the tailgate, rear bumper and bonnet with menzerna fg400 with an orange hexlogic pad then sf3500 with black 3m finishing pad then applied a coat of ODK glamour wax. Also used some AG plastic gel on the skirts and rear valance. Just need to find the time to get the rest of the car done!
