spluttering when under load
« on: June 13, 2011, 12:13:10 pm »
This has been very intermittent, and i have been reading posts that others have posted, ive had coil packs replaced but it still does it, and today a fault light appeared which has never happened before, the exhaust system fault?
Its due a service next month so was hoping too wait until then to get VW to look at it. just hope it gets no worse. Any other obvious things too check
Thanks in advance.

I have same problem, my goes in to VW in 2 weeks. They advised me today the coil packs were changed in March. Maybe its spark plugs !!!!  hopefully they can find out though. One minute its perfect and the next its stuttering. Never did it at all this morning or yesterday but Saturday it did !!

F*ckin' jinxed myself Rob when I re-visited your thread yesterday.  Driving home in Stage2+ today didnt feel as quick as normal.  Then low & behold 4th gear WOT "splutter" .  Nice one.  New plugs this week, fingers crossed. . .

He's at home now.  He's was allowed an hour at school and had lunch there to start breaking him into it but it really tired him out.  Im just glad to see him home.
Dad is struggling, when it randomly struck Matthew my Dad was due to have a tumor removed from his heart valve.  He's had it done now and is also back home.  Really cant believe our luck, its been relentless

Would plugs alone trigger EML?

yes mate it will cause an eml if it reaches the threshold of the counts of missfires to trigger it , last week my cel came on due to my plugs.

sorry to hear about your family mate
hope everything turns out ok for you all

If the plug isn't working or intermittent the fuel in that cylinder isn't getting burnt so I imagine it would over time cause a Lambda as its technically running rich.

You would probably smell it as well.

If your mapped as well try setting the gap at, I think, 0.64mm.

Instead of 0.80mm.
