MDI Lead Help
« on: June 16, 2011, 03:28:01 pm »
just retro fitted the armrest into my gti

routed and connected all air con ducts, also purchased a retro mdi kit

however as im having the mdi in my arm rest the loom provided is only long enough to reach from the headunit to as far as glovebox

is there a VW Part number for the extention cable or a link as to where to buy one

Regards

J

Youll have to get the loom from kufatec.de mate as VW dont sell them  seperately for the armrest

That loom is for extending the actual MDI interface lead (USB,iPod etc), and not the back of the head unit to the MDI interface just so you are aware  :happy2:

Yup that's what i want to do as i specced my car with MDI from the factory so i just want to move the interface from the glove box to the arm rest as it will be easier for plugging/unplugging the iPhone.

Sorry I dont think I made that clear  :signLOL:

That extends the lead that you plug the ipod/usb lead into the MDI interface - itwont allow you to move the actual box and put it into the proper armres surround

Unless you use a cubby hole and just drill into it and have the extension end loose in it!

The Octavia has the interface mounted on the dashboard frame behind the glovebox so it's a case of unplugging the short extension that currently feeds into the glovebox and adding the extension cable.

The OP wants a longer installation loom and not a user cable.
