Bringing parts home from USA?
« on: June 14, 2011, 06:00:09 pm »
Bringing parts in from USA? Anybody got any experience? Best way to do it. RS4 v8 injectors in a suitcase? Am i due to get humped? Open them up and scatter or wrap them up as a gift? Cheers, Stevie.

I bring loads of bits back, if they are not sharp I always put them in hand luggage rather than the case as I am in control of what happens to them. you will get pulled up by security in the airport in USA but if you explain what they are they are usually ok, trying to bring back 50 HPFP kits was hard to explain but I got chatting to one security guard about tuning his TFSi  :signLOL:

If you put them in your case and wrap them up they will open it and open the package, chaeck what they are and probably do a swab on them, they may even remove them and leave a TSA card in the suitcase, unlikely but it does happen.

If you ship from them yourself to your home you don't pay import as it's from you to you. I have done this with a full gearbox  :signLOL:

I remember back at school my mate bringing back a massive bag of white powder from the States, turns out it was some stuff from a joke shop that turned liquid to solid without changing its opacity, but still....
Sideways yo!
