The Whiteworm on the badge is normal , it will happen to all MkVs eventually , a Mk6 Boot handle will sort it. That reg plate is a Northern Irish (ie cheap!) private plate. Have you got any pics of the car as a whole? Price its up for?

As mentioned by mb the design was changed at some point in 2006 to prevent this from happening.The flat badges suffer from this. The newer 3D style badges don't suffer from this.
