Thanks. Do the standard 17" alloys suffer form white worm?

No as they are powder coated. The white worm only affects the diamond cut 18" monza 2's.

Although the VW centre caps can suffer from whiteworm, but these are pretty cheap to replace.

....VW centre caps were £5 each when I last looked a while ago, so not that cheap for a set - They really shouldn't get whiteworm at all  :fighting:

All about the dreaded 'whiteworm':  http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,726.0.html

Pretty sure you can get genuine ones of the bay for half that.

Are the centre caps a standard size?

....Yes, exactly the same for both 17" and 18" OEM Monza's. I've had both.

that service history looks a bit suspect to me buddy. if you decide to go ahead and buy the car I'd be thoroughly cross checking mot's with service history booklet and asking how many owners it's had dvla mileage checks the lot. quite expensive too for that year and spec.

Thanks, do you know what diameter they are as there's loads on ebay.

Decent price but yes the service history is a bit worrying.

Test drove another GTI. 2007, 18" Monza's and MFSW. Is is normal for the engine to shake the car a little when running at a stand still. It's just on the other 2005 model it was quiet and didn't move at all when sitting there.

Pretty sure they are 65mm. Can anyone else confirm?

No it shouldn't the car should start with about 1100-1200 rpm then quickly subside to 900 rpm and sit there without any murmur or increase in revs. Certainly shouldn't be shaking the car.
