Unless I'm mistaken that isn't an 8'08" lap at all. More like an 8'18"
He dribbled out of the pitlane at 12" in and went back in at 8'30"
He went passed his mate at 5" in and shook his hand in the air at 8'25"
He set off at 2" and let off the throttle at 8'22"
None of these make 8'08"
Cheating froggies
Yes this is a 8''08" and there no cheating. And I don't say that because I'm French.
But a full lap at the ring as every full lap time doesn't take into account ''T13'' the straight line along the F1 Track ant the pit lane.
So the start point is at 12'' at the exit of the pit and the finish is at 8'20'' at the finish line juste after the last corner. So every lap time skip about 6''.
That said keep in mind that between a Mégane RS Pack Cup driven in 8'29'' by Horst VON SAURNA and a Mégane RS Trophy driven in 8'08'' by a professionnal Renault test Laurent HURGON there just a few différences: some Bridgestone RE 050A +15Hp and +20Nm.
Plus I'm pretty sure that Renault choose a ''nominal'' or very well build car.
So the time is IMO more about VON SAURNA real life lap time vs HUGON marketing lap record.
A stock TTRS did 8'09'' (Sport Auto, Von Saurna?), a TTS 8'29'' (Sport Auto, Von Saurna?), a Scirocco R did a 8'30'' (Hans Stuck) without revo knukle front suspension and LSD.
That said the Mégane is indeed a fast car. But build quality doesn't match and far from it a VAG car.
