As the title says, and as some of you may know I been thinking about getting an iphone for a long time now.  :ashamed:

At last I have got a real cheap Brand new 16gb iphone4  :pomppomp:

If anybody has any tips or advice at all, I would really appreciate it.

Things like what cases/screen protectors/accessories should I get?
What apps are worth getting?
Also this is gonna be the first phone I will really use the internet on.

Any thing I should know about....
wifi?
browsing?
itunes?
etc

Sorry for the questions if you think they are stupid but I know there are lots of members here with lots of experience of iphones and sometimes you learn things through trail and error, but if you think there is something I should know that would be great!

Thanks for reading,
Carlo.

I have Jailbroken all of my previous iDevices.  I do it for the tweaks that add functionality to the o/s,  Some really smart add ons that you would think were part of the phone out of the box (or definately shouldve been!)

Obviously there's free apps which over time can save a few quid.

Im trying to think of cons to be unbiased but atm I cant think of any.  Alot of people are weary of jailbreaking, Im not sure why.  If there was ever a problem with the phone, it can be restored, jailbreak removed and taken to the apple store under warranty. . .

Thanks Mike   So Jailbreaking is ok and it doesnt affect the warranty?

Am I right in thinking its, redsn0w or greenpois0n that I need to jailbreak?

Anyone got any recommendations on cases?

:sad1: .....I thought with all the peeps with iphones I might have had a bit more feedback......  :sad1:

I rate the MiLi powerskin.  If youre going to be using your data allowance it can spank your battery.  The Mili case case a battery built in and is very slim considering.

Zagg skins are also very good at keeping your new toy in pristine condition

If you take your phone to apple with a warranty claim, restore the phonewith iTunes first to wipe the jailbreak  :happy2:

Jaibreaking makes the iPhone complete. Definately worth doing.

Apple play catchup eventually with some of the apps and features, but why wait. I had a problem with a map update on my 4Gwhen I was in San Francisco a few weeks back (slow hotel wi-fi caused it!) and the guy in the Apple store wasn't bothered about the jailbreak, in fact he showed me his!! Then I used their wi-fi to complete the download. Always great service from Apple wherever you are.

As has been said, if you are worried then it is easy enough to remove and replace. I had to do that with my 3G once.

Thanks Mike and Tony.  :happy2:

Just cut down my sim, and it wouldn't work. I couldn't believe it. I tried the sim in and out for a while, and then thought....why don't I try connecting it to itunes like its telling me  :ashamed:

I did. It now works fine, so tomorrow I will do the jailbreak.

What zagg skins do you recommend mike? Where the best place for them?

I think pipstons speck hd pixel looks good (looks quite slim too)......but I need to know what condition its in before I buy.

Finally what is the best screen protectors? Do they need to be anti-glare? Do I need the same stuff on the back too? The back looks quite prone to scratching.
Do most of you use the protection film and a case/skin?

First things first, download ALL of my apps (lol) and rate them all 5 stars!!! ;)

Yeah I use a screen protector, just get a pack off ebay a couple of quid for 3.

And I use a case, a sillicon type one that just fits round the back of the phone!

I got the Zagg Invisible shield body protection stuff. Looks good  :happy2:

One thing that does concern me about the iphone4 is that my VW BT phone kit says that the phone is not compatible

Any of you guys with iphone4's  and RNS510's with BT kit got em to work. I can't believe its not compatible  :sad1:

I had a Morphie juice pack for my 3Gs and when I applied Zagg skin, due to it being a mm thicker than most skins my phone was a really tight fit in my power skin  :sad1:
lol

Guranteed protection without any bulk though eh  :happy2:

yeah I must admit they look alot better without the need of a case.  :happy2:

Any idea where I can get a proven tutorial for jailbreaking?

I was going to use the iClarified tutorial but the link on it for the redsn0w download isn't working.

Is redsn0w the best to use?
