Monte,

Download Redsn0w software from here

Mac OS X Linky

Windows Linky

Then just follow the appropriate guide for windows or mac on iClarified and you will be able to download the iOS 4.3.3. .ipsw file from whichever is the relevant tutorial :happy2:

For screen protectors get the Zagg Invisible shield.

For case get the Incase Snapcase

For Battery case get the ExoGear case like this one i have

If you installed / updated the phone to the latest firmware on iTunes the file will already be on your computer

Will just work out the filepath where you can find it....

Computer > local disk (C:) > Users > "Your Name/profile" > appData > Roaming > Apple Computer > iTunes >iPhone Software updates

If youve updated the phone on iTunes the ipsw will be there, saves you downloading it....  :happy2:

** EDIT

You may need to allow / show hidden files & folders...

I used to have the Apple bumper case on mine, until I realised it was leaving marks, like freckles, on the bezel, near the dock connector. So I took it off and have had my phone naked since then, except for a rear screen protector for when I place it on a table etc. Other then that I use no case, and it's actually been better off then when I had the case on! I'm careful with it so it doesn't get marked any further though, but I just like to keep my phone as it is rather then hide it away in a case.

Looking for a good price for the TomTom car kit now, since I've sold my Brodit case as I like the look and feel of the tomtom kit - it's just expensive for what it is, hence looking for a decent price on eBay etc.

You'll need it to run the JB if my memory serves me correct.  Did you update the phone to 4.3.3 when you plugged it into iTunes?

If so you'll find the 4.3.3 ipsw file at the file path i posted ^^^

You need to restore the phone before Jailbreaking so that the phone is "clean" if you like from all apps, music etc. Once it is installed and jailbroken you can then restore from a back up.

If you can't find the .ipsw in the way mike has described (which i don't think you will if the phone came with 4.3.3) then yes you will need to download it :happy2:

@Mike, No mate to my knowledge I didn't update the phone on iTunes.

I tried the path you posted but for some reason, after User>Monte.....there is no appData etc

@Carl, I have just downloaded the .ispw but I am pretty sure my phone is clean. I just came with the few standard apps on, no music or anything else, and all I have put on is my contacts.

Do you guys think I am better just following the iClarified tutorial to the letter, whether my phone is "clean" or not?

p.s... I'm not gonna Jailbreak it till tmrw night. Just getting everything downloaded.  :happy2:

So far I have the redsn0w and the .ispw in a folder called Pwnage, so I think I'm ready.

Monte,

Enable hidden files, that's why you can't see the appdata folder.

Organize
Folder & Search options
View
Show hidden files & folders

voila! ;)

Carlo,

Follow the iClarified tutorial to the letter that way you can't go wrong.

Once you connect the phone to your home broadband just leave it connected all the time it's what i do with mine and i never have any problems.

If you get stuck/have any problems just give me a shout  :happy2:
