I did 80 miles today and managed 42.5 mpg. But that was down small a and b roads. Its definitely not how a gti should be driven, however I do love the flexibility of the mpg that these engines allow. i didnt buy the car for its mpg that would be stupid but its definitely an added bonus when you do want to drive at a budget

i managed 39.9 mpg and did 440 miles !! that was doing a constant 60 mph from manchester to cornwall. lost a miles to the end as it was more stop start town driving !! i reckon i could have hit 500 mile to the tank if it had been all motorway !!

We drove from Cumbria to Kent last week and managed to get just about 400 miles out of the tank either way which was showing about 33-34mpg on the comp. Both ways due to road works and bad weather we spent a lot of time at no more that 50mph.
i was fairly happy with that as it included non m/way driving too.

Only had the car about 6wks so worrking on it!

I did Kent to York and back and averaged 34 mpg, approx 400 miles to a tank. However I think having a knackered PCV valve is giving me slightly reduced MPG, and lets just say on the way home the flow of traffic was well paced!
