Now buying Mk5 GTI - advice please
« on: June 21, 2011, 05:39:08 pm »

Hi,

I have been wanting to buy a Mk5 GTI for about 3 years since my dad got one - I drove it once & was hooked.
Now I am going to see 2 different cars next week.

1. 2008 4 door DSG 69000kms (ca 43000 miles)
long life service all completed (large service done at 48000 1 year ago, cambelt & water pump not changed yet)

2. 2005 4 door DSG 55000kms (ca 34000 miles)
long life service all completed (waiting for more info on servicing & cambelt & water pump but it should have been done after 4 years?)

The 2005 model is £2000 cheaper but that is not really the deciding factor for me, i can afford both & just want to get what would be the best bet for at least 5 years of fun motoring.
They both have almost the same spec, 2008 has MFSW & Xenons extra.

I live in Finland so do not have the choice available in UK (not to mention the price of the things), so basically will end up getting one of these.
The dealers out here are not known for making any 'deals' so really i dont have much bargaining power...

So, I would like to ask your opinions on the 2 options & what I should look out for when I go to see them?

Thanks!
