Auto HVAC Sensor (G191)
« on: June 23, 2011, 10:29:14 am »
I've been trying to get rid of an error that's reported in 08 Auto HVAC with my climatic unit. 01296 - Sensor for Vent Temperature; Center (G191).
There's barely anything on the net about where it is but I found some random documentation that says the sensor is plugged in behind the cluster (top left).

Has anyone ever noticed any wiring there or have knowledge of this sensor. I'll probably remove the cluster tonight to see If I can see it. I'm hoping removing it doesn't cause errors?

If you do remove the cluster then do with battery removed and dont move the steerign wheel or you will probably get errors with steering angle sensor.

Thanks for the heads up, was wondering if battery had to be removed :)

Interestingly I managed to find the most informative thread I've seen on it but there was no working pictures or resolution :(
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4218216-QUIZ!-Name-this-mystery-connector-near-fuse-box

It does seem to mention a small connector where the fusebox panel is at the drivers side which I also have with NOTHING connected to it.

To me the connector looks like its for a light but I don't have any missing or not working!

Can anyone trace where that plug goes to? The other thread mentions it goes into the supposed G191 in the vent above.
