Not So Big, Porsche Brake kit - Pad choice, need help!

Hey,

I purchased a Porsche Kit off DaveB a while ago and when fitting realised my OEM Pads were a completely different fitment and wouldn't work. The calipers were on at this stage and rather revert back to the standard setup, we sent my dad off at short notice to find pads to suit. Ferodo ones were purchased from a Motor Factors and installed. Ever since, I've been pretty appalled by the amount of brake dust they give off...

The calipers are the fronts from a Porsche Boxster

I am looking for alternatives which will provide a little more bite if possible but MUST be less dusty!

Can anyone with the same brake set up advise?

Anyone else that is currently using aftermarket pads please provide details and I will see can they be got for my specific caliper.

Just ordered this kit off Dave so will be watching this to see what people are using.

Sorry it doesnt help but Im sure people will be along soon with 500 pad choices lol

I wasn't aware Dave was still doing this as at the time, I was the last person he was doing it for (think his wife laid down the law) lol

Hopefully someone can advise

Was it a CupraR splitter?  Cant remember mate    Think with new family commitments Dave is having to actually start winding down his brake madness lol

White_Lady_170 if you have rears from Porsche Boxster, than you don't have DaveB's kit. DaveB's kit (I have one) has front Porsche Boxster calipers.
For pad choice I have OEM Brembo Porsche Brakes that are quite ok for road use and Pagid Orange for track use. If you are not tracking your car OEM Porsche pads will work just fine.

Actually maybe it wasn't you, think you were for selling and then kept it... the one in your sig picture, specifically designed for our bumpers.  

Anyway, since DaveB is still in the business do you think you could maybe pick his brain when you are next in touch with him?

Off topic slightly for a min, what colour calipers you going for? Did you see mine finished? I haven't updated my build thread in forever so probably not

White_Lady_170 if you have rears from Porsche Boxster, than you don't have DaveB's kit. DaveB's kit (I have one) has front Porsche Boxster calipers.

I may have to research back and find out but i'm near sure they are the rear's. This is the "not so big" setup, are you sure your's isn't different? Definitely a DaveB kit as i delt with him directly but it was some time ago and i may have got front/rear mixed up...

If you want something that's not too dusty, then I'd say the OEM Porsche pads are a fair bet.

I'm going to put my hands up and say yes, they are indeed the front's...  don't know what put rear's into my head. I'll edit my post accordingly. Thanks for pointing it out!

When you say OEM Porsche pads, would they be made by brembo then? or where would I look for them outside of a Porsche dealership?

I was hoping for aftermarket pads to be honest, although my knowledge of brake pads in non-existent... is extra performance AND less dust even achievable or am I asking too much?

Why necessarily aftermarket, Boxster owners don't tend to complain their brakes don't work - I've seen them lap all day on track with no issues.

Any specialist should get Pork pads, but I'd suggest unless you go high end ceramic £250 a set Pagid RS stuff, your hopes of performance and no dust are peeing in the wind.

A fair point, and put like that, there's not much I can say really... I guess I just had it in my head if I'm paying the money for new pads, when the ones fitted don't need changing... I'd just go for the best I could get (within reason) and automatically assumed the aftermarket route 

I'll definitely bare the OEM pads in mind but still wanting to here what the fast road setup men are using and their observations regarding the levels of dust their pad of choice produces.

OEM setup is in the garage, as is all my OEM stuff, in two minds whether to sell on now or replace everything come selling up time...
