Detailing after a respray - bad idea?
« on: June 28, 2011, 01:43:46 pm »
Hi

My car was in at the bodyshop a few weeks ago getting the front wings resprayed because of the dreaded rust problem.

The bodyshop suggested that it would be okay to detail the car as the new paint was baked on, but a second opinion never hurts. Anyone know whether I am going to do any harm with the following? Particularly the claying/polishing/sealant.

Wash with Dodo BTBM
Clay the car
Polish - Poorboys Black Hole
Sealant - Jetseal 109
Pre wax cleanse - Dodo Lime Prime Lite
Wax - Collinite 915

Many thanks in advance,
Jim

No to sealant/wax - new paintwork needs to breathe.

Personally, I'd leave it a minimum of four weeks before doing anything.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
