DSG Question?

When stationary is it recommended that you hold the car on the brakes in D or stick in in to neutral? Was thinking from a clutch wear point of view.

If it's any more than about 5 or 10 seconds I stick it in neutral.

I dont think it matters as the box disengages the clutch for you anyway.

Yes I think it stops drive so to speak so your not actually 'holding' it in gear.

I only take it out if its a long set of lights as I heard the oil can get hot.

Not sure though.

Neutral. The heat build up if left in D is relatively quick. Doesn't do the 'box or oil any good. Driver's handbook say N if stationary for any length of time.

If only it was quick !!, when i tried to do the basic setting where the oil needs to be a certain temp it took me ages to get it to anything like it needed to be  :chicken: :laugh:

Its extremely poor driving to sit with your foot on the brake and in gear when stationary, let alone what's good for the car. If you're stationary for more than a couple of seconds it should be Neutral and handbrake straight away. Much safer all round.

I hate being dazzled by the brake lights of lazy drivers in traffic.
