I'm on the hunt for a new head unit for my 58 plate Edition 30. What I'd like is for it to have bluetooth handsfree and full iPod control. At the moment I've been looking at the Kenwood DNX520VBT from a VW dealer. The unit is £999 fitted, which is a little more than I would ideally want to pay, but as it should tick all the boxes I'll be ok with.
However, one thing that does worry me is that the only USB port is on the front, so if I want to plug in my iPod I can't use the dock in my glove box and have to have trailing wires on the dash. For that sort of money I would expect more.
So, my questions are:
- Am I right in my thinking about the USB cable, does it have to be on the front?
- What other head unit options should I look at? The two key things are bluetooth handsfree and full iPod control. Ideally I'd like to have one that its without any adapters as I've had bad experiences in the past with them not fitting.
