hi i was wondering if any1 had changed there front wheelbearings on there gti/ed30 there self and how much of a job they are 2do?????????

you got a lot of road noise?

what tyres are you running? Sure it's not them bud?

My wheel bearings are alot older,and have done twice the mileage then yours?

yep passenger side hav swapped wheels n made no difference dude  :happy2:

Hi,

Not done them personally but have been looking into it for mine also,

Not sure if this is 100% and i'm sure someone on here will confirm if it is or not.

Nut off driveshaft
Release lower ball joint pull out strut to allow driveshaft to come out of hub assembly
Bearing is a complete assembly which bolts up behind the hub carrier. Not sure if the new bearing is also the wheel mounting flange without having stripped it down.

I did get a price of some genuine vw ones and they are around 90 a side.

If I can pinpoint the noise on mine and this is it i will be having a go myself, doesn't look too bad.

Hi there, i had to have my front wheel bearings changed, VW charged me £412, car runs very much better now, although had 4 new PS3's fitted around same time...(MUCH more quiet and smooth)

I get a bit of a wuring noise, more noticeable over 50mph and seems to go if I turn the wheel ever so slightly to the left.  Could this be a bearing issue?
