Shocking driving in this video....
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:46:42 pm »

People chasing seem a little too much like wannabe traffic cops, but I see people driving like this almost every day and makes me mad.

I have seen stuff like this time and time again. Unfortunately people in this country are never punished sufficiently and we allow programmes like Top Gear to portray going sideways IN ROAD CARS on a Track . People like this woman believe it is ok to drive like she did as she saw it on TV.  She is too dim to see the difference but there are thousands like her. We have seen driving like that from immigrants who are not sent home to their country of Origin due to their Human Rights ! We will have less police in the future due to PCSO's driving our police cars around who can't stop motorists etc. The Country is now getting what it deserves after years of neglect from those in power.....

I fail to see how this has any bearing.

Even before the new format of TG, people would drive like this. It's just more prolific, partly due to more cars. The other problem is that you could pass your driving test with full marks but there's no monitoring or reassessment of how one drives. Even with having a driving test every five years, the majority will pass fine because they'll take refresher lessons and temporarily knock out their bad habits.

Given that speeding accounts for something like 2% of all accidents, we should move our focus to more problematic areas: poor driving habits, poor condition of vehicles and poor road conditions. Improve them and you'll reduce the rates of fatal accidents. You also have people who drive without a license, road tax or valid MOT.

What you need is a system whereby ANPR will detect not only insurance and road tax and MOT but also linked licenses. E.g. my car would only have my license linked to it. If a copper saw the driver and it did not look like me on the license, they could pull the driver over.

But that's still not enough. The future, IMO, will be blackboxes and/or cameras in all vehicles. Alternatively, remove humans from the equation entirely.

I'd personally love to have a fore and after camera to record for up to five mins and after an impact, so if someone cuts in front of me and hits the brakes, the evidence will show it wasn't my fault. Same for tailgaters etc.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

i would like to see more scamera vans and police speed checks on these types of roads (residential areas), especially where I am in London with cars racing down side streets in the morning, but you never do, they are always parked up on some dual carriageway miles away from any pedestrians catching people doing 80+ in a 70  :stupid:  its all about money not safety

She did a hit-and-run on a 75 year old. What were you watching?

If she did a hit and run according to PH ??

PH comment seems to indicate this is fake ...

I have no idea - other than it does seem an odd video .... and if the woman did hit a 75 year old where they said it was I would probably know about it through my job ... which I don't.
