I'm with greeners on this... It's just a little bit too predictable. Yes he is a good driver and yes his car is superb, but it's still makes it a bit tedious.

Don't label me Robin and bring out the 'You Brits' comments! I expect better from you!

....Bur what do you expect Seb Vettel to do? - Drive slower? Lose his race on purpose?

I guess it would be potentially far too dangerous to do reverse grids BTCC-style

No am not saying he should do anything robin. If he is fastest then that's how it is... All I'm saying it makes for a almost boring quali session. Ballasts maybe?

I felt gutted for Karun Chandhok today, when Jake and EJ mentioned that he wouldn't be driving at the first Indian GP I thought the poor lad was about to cry. :sad1:
The romantic/idiotic side of me was hoping that he'd somehow get the chance given that the team have very little to lose right now and who knows, maybe some wealthy Indian outfit might reward them with a sponsorship deal.
 Regards,

John

Ballast is a good solution in principle but you can imagine how difficult it would be to design into a F1 car and it might effect safety.

As you say, it is what it is - Sports activities throw up their winners organically. There's no certainty that Vettel will win tomorrow. For me, most of the excitement is which guys make it onto the podium rather than only who wins the top step. Whoever the podium finishers are they'll probably all deserve to be.

I'd like to see Lewis win tomorrow - I think it would bring back his spirit.

So, was PussyDoll Catfinger ex-GF older than Lewis?

....I felt exactly the same but there's no room for emotion unfortunately when such high money stakes are involved.

I guess the bottom line is that, nice chappie as he is, he didn't perform well enough.

People seem to forget with F1 that the car is THE difference. The only true way you would ever find who is the fastest driver would be if the FIA went to one manufacturer and said this is the specs for the engine, chassis, aerodynamics etc. Build 24 identical cars and we mean identical. That is the only way you would ever have an even playing field but it will never happen and nor would I want it to.

Look at the McLaren vs RedBull. McLaren has far better mechanical grip so does better accelerating away from slow corners. However get on a track with a few medium to high speed corners and the RedBull (which has superior aero than anything on the track let alone the McLaren) just storms away.

Part of the attraction of F1 is seeing how the teams can build and manipulate a car to try and give their driver the edge over the others. RedBull have got Adrian Newey, who is a modern day Colin Chapman, and he can interpret the regulations  ether than any other team to give Vettel the edge.

I don't dispute that Vettel is talented. He has to be to produce the results. It's just that his team have given him a better set of tools to use than anyone else.

Not a fan of Vettel. I agree with Greenstuff about the Shoemaker years but thankfully there is good racing elsewhere and the fact that he doesn't always win keeps me interested.

Not the greatest of measures but SV does head the Top Gear F1 challenge.  :sad1:

SV is a part of a very talented overall team.  JB and LH's team are not as talented.  I think SV is a better driver than JB, but not as inspired as LH on his day.

Edit............. it happens to LH again......... :sad1:
