Shock news alert  :chicken: :driver:

Vettel misses out on first win due to exhaust failure. Rumour in the paddock say's it was a milltek.

TC Gold!

Some of you guys are soooo predictable though - I saw that coming as soon as the word "exhaust" was mentioned during the race.

Yes, it was a bit dull but I think that's because the circuit doesn't bring out the best. It had its moments though.

I was very pleased to see Massa make the podium simply because of what happened to him last season, and Lewis who I think Jenson will find hard to beat.

Regardless of whether Schumacher met his own expectations, he gave a respectable performance and it's very early days.

Seriously, for me this was such an anti climax.  I eagerly glued myself in front of the tv expecting to see non stop fighting and wheel to wheel action, everyone wanting the extra point right from the start.  Instead I watched a new form of motorsport all about fuel economy and tyre changing.

This had all the makings of the best F1 race in recent history, 4 world champions in good cars, bumpy track designed that way for a little spice, maclarren with there contraversial front scoop, massa back from the dead.....

Then the lights turned to green and after a bit of a grid shuffel and some smoke I watched as lap after lap nothing changed.  Made up lotus are back (childhood favorite jps car), glad to see massa back and Hamilton out qualifying button.  I'm even glad Schumacher has returned but it's very hard to see how the sport is going to get better IMO.  take my hat of to the (insert name here) Indian guy, gotta love his attitude!

Anyways rant over, f1 cars are still amazing... I can still hear the Renault I seen in Germany last year it was that loud, at least it's only a few weeks untill the btcc starts.  Now that's motorsport! ! :)

Very much an anti climax but let's see how it develops, especially as the McLaren and Mercedes cars become more competitive and even as teams like Lotus further improve.

That Indian guy was very cool.

Chandarock - think thats how you spell it.  he was the best thing about the whole weekend.

I have to agree, I think i have had more fun watching the grass grow.  I have never looked forward to an F1 season as much as I have as this year.  It had all the hall marks there of being a classic, and is nice to see proper qualiyfing again.   Lotus being back with the green and yellow livery like above is a child hood dream being back.  One day I will own a car in this colours  :P

Sadly I cannot see the racing living up to it as all the drivers have said they cannot get close to the car in front with all the fuel on board and the turbulance from the car in front just wrecks tyres.  I'm not sure how no re-fuelling was ever going to improve racing after all i remember the first time round (I am that old) and it was dull then

Have to agree... dull race.

I would put it down to the refulling ban.  even if you ignore the procession on fuel economy and tyre savign etc, by putting all of the cars in the final session on the minimum fuel possible, you will (except for a driver error) always have a faster car infront of you.  How can this make the race more interesting to watch??

bring back refuelling or give the top 10 championshiop drivers a small fuel penalty in the final session of qualy...

lets hope this isnt the new F1!

I think a weight penalty is the way forward, some form of extra ballast for each position qualified within the top ten so pole position would see perhaps a 10kg penalty, 2nd gets 9kg, 3rd 8kg etc.  works wonders in BTCC?

thats not a bad shout.  that could make a good difference.  however would they then try to qualify fastest or taken second or third in the knowledge that they wil have a weight advantage.

But that's exactly the type of thing that would make it exciting, trying to qualify 3rd on purpose would be hard when your talking about 0.2s.  even if you had the advantage you gotta get past before turn 1, whilst defending against the faster cars behind.  the more I think about this the more I like it.

Also how about introducing 5 points for the fastest lap of the race?

good days f1 news.

hamilton and button setting the pace(though that could be down to timing the drying up of the track perfectly)

lewis hamilton had his mercedes road car impounded in Oz for speeding after being pulled by the cops.

Virgin racing have made a big boo boo with the size of their fuel tank, and are now developing another chassis that can handle a bigger tank.

who's up at 6am tomorrow then lol
