are you after general what to look for or those things specific to the TDi?

Don't want to tell you to suck eggs with a list of general stuff if you are already au fait  :signLOL:

Looks a good example and a fair price - when viewing the history keep an eye out for any DPF problems.

Having said that when I purchased mine the previous owner told me about his DPF problems and what caused them (short journeys over a period of time when the snow was bad in Glossop)- on showing me the VW receipt to put the DPF filter right I was happy and have had no problems in the 6 mths I have owned the car (touch wood)!!!!

I am currently running a mk2 Octavia vRS which is essentially a Golf in a Czech overcoat, so I'm more interested in things specific to the GT model in particular issues with the TDi engine etc.

Fully au fait with the DPF and common issues, fortunately this one hasn't got one fitted.  :happy2:

You can tell me everything else apart from the engine though....

Getting ahead of myself a bit but I'm not keen on the headlights with the chrome inners so they will be the first thing to go in favour of the later spec black type.  I have found a seller on eBay who can supply a pair of new ones (patent) for £100, is this a good price?

Failed turbo bearings (resulting in needing a new turbo) are extremely common, rev the engine, let the revs settle and if you hear any howling noises (some say it sounds like an owl or a police siren type noise) then walk away.

Cambelt history?
Air con service?
Clutch problems...

I've got the 1.9tdi and have had all these issues in the last 6 months...

comes to a tidy sum!!!

When is it recommended to do a cambelt change on the 140 PD, I know my Tfsi is 60K or 4 years.....

Another thing, someone has mentioned the HU is a cheap Tawain/Chinese copy, but to me it looks like the MFD2, I was under the impression that if it has silver buttons it is the DVD version as stated in the advert!
