Leaking radiator..... Any updated rads available?
« on: July 12, 2011, 02:08:31 pm »
Just got a call from VW whilst my car was in for a recall saying they noticed it has a leaking radiator. To what extent I'm not sure but the water level hasn't decreased much so hopefully it's not too bad.

So for supply and fit it's around £450 plus which is quite a bit so I'm thinking I might try to source an uprated unit?

What uprated radiators can you guys recommend and will they give any power gains? Also is it worth it over an OEM VW Rad? Where's the best and cheapest place to get them too and is it worth uprating any other cooling whilst the radiator is being replaced?

S3 Intercooler.

Straight swap as long as you get the S3 hoses aswell. There was one in the for sale section recently dont know if it still there.

A Cooler won't give you more power. It will just make the power consistent and the effects of heat soak will be reduced a lot. :happy2:

Lol, it's his radiator that's leaking water!

I don't know of an aftermarket radiator but corrosion at the bottom of the standard radiator isn't a rare occurance.
Without traction power is nothing!

Hmmmm, I would have thought there would have been loads of aftermarket options! Guess it could be OEM VW unless someone comes along with another option
