MOT query.

Maybe somebody could throw some light on this before I call the DVLA.

I bought my car from Bart.A member of this forum from Belfast.Now the car is a 57 plate and the MOT test law in N.I is after 4 years then yearly.
Now the car resides here and the law is 3 years then yearly.Does the DVLA require me to immediately MOT the car or do I wait until the 4 years is up,(September).

Would of thought as.the car is  in this country it will 3 years

I agree to an extent but the car has only been in country for 4 weeks.So now its overdue 10 months?... :chicken:

Think i would either contact dvla or pay for a mot .as you might be driving illegally

This may help from the DVLA website.....

Moving between Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) with your vehicle
You only need to fill in the change of address section on your V5C (moving from GB to NI) and send to a Driver Vehicle and Operator (DVO) office, or your V5CNI (moving from NI to GB) and send to a DVLA local office as your vehicle is staying in the UK.

When transferring the vehicle from GB to NI you should leave the current tax disc on the vehicle until it expires and then re-tax in NI. This is the same for vehicles transferring from NI to GB.

The form V561 is no longer applicable when vehicles are moving between GB and NI

99.99999(% Sure my dad had to get his MOT'd straight away? is it on a UK plate?

Gulf, as soon as the vehicle is registered on the Mainland, it falls under our regulations. Consequently it requires an immediate MOT certificate.
