Some fantastic macro shots. Don't think I'll be able to rival them with my G12  :signLOL: but I've seen ring flash and adaptors for the G12.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Yes, that shot is infra-red (not taken by myself). The creature is microscopic.

Your dad's camera gear must look like the alien mother ship to a mini-beast. No wonder they freeze and daren't move in the hope of not being spotted - Perfect for our photography.

Does it still deliver results if handheld? Apart from the financial outlay such gear won't fit in my pocket every time I go out, even just to my garden. Which is why I have a FinePix F500EXR (I didn't go for the 550 RAW version).

This one was hand held too  :

I can't possibly get anywhere near the quality of your macro pics, Rich, without similar camera gear. All I can do is rely on colour effect and composition and capturing an atmosphere or special moment.

....Cheers, Andy  :drinking:

A "decent" camera doesn't have to be a mega-bucks full-sized pro kit, there are now 'mid' or 'bridge' size cameras (Panasonic G3 for example), as well as the literally-in-your-pocket-24/7 compacts like my new FinePix F500EXR (which I haven't posted any pics from yet). You could buy my compact F200EXR if you like - PM if interested. It all depends what sort of pics you want to shoot (compacts are not so good for motorsport track action).
