Spoke to stealer today quoted me about £320.00 for cambelt fitted and said "we dont do the water pumps anymore as there is no need."

Is it still wise to do at same time or are they tough as old boots now or something? My car is an 57 08.

I wasnt going to bother but it seems stupid not to?  If it needs doing before the next cambelt you have to pay for another cambelt

Food for thought

no but you would save a lot of money getting it done while there working on that side of the engine as it will need doing a little later on.

IIRC it's only another £75 to have the opump replaced at the same time. I had mine done and the car has only done 8k miles. Not worth the risk not to for £75

I'm just about to get cambelt, tensioner, aux belt and waterpump done on my ed30 by one of the technicians at work, I work for a bmw dealer . He has sourced the parts off a mate of his who works as a senior tech for vw. I now have the parts in mt possesion and I am missing any pulleys or bolts etc?? Can the existing pulleys/mounting bolts be re-used?? Is it advisable to so? I am going to have a chat with him tomorrow about this but just thoght i'd get a few others opinions on the matter. Any help woulds be much appreciated.

If they don't do them anymore why do vw quote a price for changing the waterpump along with the cambelt on their fixed price servicing menu online??
