Hope you got his details. Any witnesses?

Get him shopped to the cops , he commited an offence by hitting you! You should also mention his agressive attitude.

I didnt even notice the damage guys. My wife saw it, but thought i had. At the time, i just wanted to get back home as i had so much to do before leaving for the 'Ring. Was majorly pissed off when we got back though and the wife pointed out the damage. I didnt get the registration and in hindsight, i should have acted on things.

Oh well. Done now.

Car has now been back into the dealership and had the clutch packs repaired. Seems ok at the moment. Need to get the gearbox really hot and make sure none of the symptoms still exist. Feels better on initial testing though.

Well, the car has died spectacularly earlier. Cant decide at this point if the gearbox has died terminally, or if the engine has gone bang. I havent been happy with the gearbox since the car was given back to me. Some symptoms still there when the gearbox is really hot.

Pulled away from a junction, the gearbox went up, then down, then up, then down again. Engine went into limp mode, so sounds like its only running on 2 cylinders.

Engine fault light came on, but was flashing. Then the EPC light was on. Pulled over, tried to rev the car to clear the code and turned engine off and on again. But it wouldnt clear.

Drove just around the corner to the house, with hazards flashing. Car struggled to pull away from the roundabout next to the house. Just managed to get on the drive.

Left it 10 minutes, now the car wont start at all.

Cant decide at this point if i want to blame VW or drive it through the windows of the place i purchased the car from.  :sad1:

Thoughts? :( Only had the car less than 3 months.

Bought from a main dealers? If so I would be asking for a replacement or full refund.

I'd be back to the place that fixed the gearbox and see what they say. Then i'd be back to where i got the car from whilst the other lot are trying to fix it.

In no uncertain terms i would be telling them to sort the car out between themselves and in the meantime give you a full refund and go elsewhere

Tricky situation. I work for Lex Autolease. This car is ex-fleet, sold through our re-marketing company. Cars4Staff.

Car is on tick, although i got a fairly good discount through work and staff rates.

So they should be even more understanding. I hope.

Dealership were responsible for the repairs. Just been back out the car again and it wont start. Stinks of fuel when its turning over.

I'd leave it now and just get on to the dealer in the morning. Get them to come and collect the car and sort it out.

Have you got access to VCDS in the mean time to see what faults are being thrown up?

How old's the car?
Provided it is still covered by VW warranty I see no problems just pick the phone up and get it recovered to the nearest decent dealer.

Oh yes, not worried about the warranty at all. Just fed up of the POS. Was meant to be taking the dog to the vets in the morning for her annual jabs, but had to call on the father in law for help (lives 20 miles away) to get my wife and the dog there. As she goes into kennels next Saturday for 12 days. We are due to go on holiday next Friday to Lanzarote, and needed a car this weekend to get last minute stuff for the break. Its just been such an inconvenience from the word go.

Deako,

It's worth remembering that a registered dealer has to warrant the car for six months from purchase. The onus is on them to prove that these faults were not present when you took delivery (which is impossible).

See my post:http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,31959.msg395974.html#msg395974

I think it's time for you to write to them explaining all the problems, inconvenience, time lost and your intention to seek redress. If the car is less than 6 weeks from delivery, you can reject it as 'not fit for it's intended purpose'. If you've had it longer, this will be difficult.

I would recommend either speaking to Citizen's Advice, or even a solicitor. It's amazing how quickly a dealer will sit up & take note once you get professionals involved. I would also get Honest John from the Telegraph Motoring section on the case: www.honestjohn.co.uk He's a real force in these cases and will usually work on your behalf to get a satisfactory resolution.

Keep detailed records, make notes on who you speak to and when, and keep plugging. This is a pretty indefensible problem; your issue is going to be if the offered resolution is satisfactory to you
