Well, its not the coil pack, or the spark plug.

Cylinder 3 still has a misfire.

Tried to compression test it and the compression was low, but this could be because of the bore wash effect of the fuel in the cylinder.

Car needs to still go to the dealership. No car for the whole of this bank holiday weekend now. Also means the car will not get looked at until Tuesday at the least. Depressing!!!

Have you had a look with VCDS in case the 'box has logged any faults since the car was returned? May be worth a peek

VCDS was counting a missfire on cyl3 for me, coilpacks and plugs don't seem to have effected the popping & spluttering on idle.
Vagcom cable will be here on mon / tues, will let you know what I find may be of some use.

Interestingly, someone else has just posted on Club GTI that their neighbour had the same issue. Needed a new cylinder head under warranty.

Car was delivered to the dealership earlier this afternoon by recovery. Long wait till Tuesday now before i can speak to anyone.
