mk5 gti bumper advice

hi all just need a bit of info,just got a gti front bumper and was wonering if i had to change the slam panel or will it fit as is.i heard it would fit on with the old slam panel but would not be able to access the front towing eye.my current front bumper is stock golf(ie not gt or gti) thanks

I presume its a pre-facelift GT TDI you have? If so you will need a GTI/facelift GT/Jetta/Golf Estate slam panel, along with upper and lower members, and bumper guides.

There are a few bodyshops that can fit without the above, by making custom brackets etc, but what you save in parts, you'll spend in labour. My advice would be to search ebay and breakers for genuine secondhand parts.

matt says in his post about 1000 pounds but i bought a second hand edition 30 bumper and ive just found a post on vw vortex that shows you how to do it by drilling 2 holes in the carrier trim the new bumper and buy the gti foam 7quid and 2 gti bumper guides 10 quid max so im gonna try this if it works 100 quid max all in.will let you know how it goes
