Boost gauges fitted on your GTI??
« on: July 18, 2011, 12:02:28 am »
Have been looking at doing this for a little while just not sure which one to go for and what type of fitting..... looks like its either mount it in the right hand side air vent or an offset steering coloumn pod.

Anyone got either of these types fitted on their GTI? Or suggest an alternative? Would like to know what you guys think...  :popcornsoda:

Thanks
Dave

This is the one to get, only thing is you need Highline cluster fitted first if you haven't got it yet

Haven't got highline on mine  :sad1: and looking at the cost involved probably won't

If i get one it'll be the air vent or steering pod type just wondered how people who have either of these fitted find them and any recommendations?

Thanks
Dave

I got a gauge called a Pivot XV and an OSIR vent pod, The gauge is from Japan but I got hold of it in Hong Kong where I am at the moment. Hopefully I can get back to the UK soon to fit it but I was looking at diferent boost guages but what I liked about this is it plugs directly into the diagnostic monitoring conector and can be switched between boost, water and oil temperature. Also it comes with a power lead conected to a 10A fuse so simply two leads to plug in and you are are operational. Its especially designed for the VW with blue ilumination. I saw a dual gauge version in a MK6 GTI in a VW etc. performance shop/garage in Hong kong and it looked the business with the matching white elumination for the MK6 and seemed to work fine. The guy who owns the shop has a MK5 GTI and said he has run one in his for over a year and says its performs well and he has had no issues with it. Hopefully I can fit it and find out soon. Not sure if anyone else has tried one but I will be interested in feedback if somebody has?

It's called a Pivot XV you can find it on the internet and you tube.

Cheers Paul

Loving the dial on that one  whose it made by? i take it they just replace your entire vent mounted like that?

Does this one obstruct the dials that much? can't really tell from that picture..... looks like it might block the temp gauge and maybe the higher revs numbers?
