Scratched DSG surround..
« on: July 18, 2011, 07:11:41 pm »
I foolishly managed to scratch the edge of my DSG surround today..  :sad1:

Any suggestions as to the best way to attempt to repair it? Don't really want to go to the expense of buying a replacement!! Don't suppose anyone's got a spare surround?

I guess a grey touch-up stick will be the best to try..

Any masterplans?

The whole surround splits down so you can easily spray it up a satin black or similar  :happy2:

VCDS Scanning/Coding, RNS and MDI retrofits, and specialist mechanics services with VAGtek available - Just PM me for details.

Would you spray directly only the existing 'rubbery-plastic' surface? Any special prep required?

When I bought my car the surround had a small chip on it. It was doing my head in so I got a brand new one for £50 and while I was at it I got the gaitor retrimmed in Interlagos cloth

Was that just for the surround?  Don't suppose you've still got your old one that I could 'experiment' on?
