Fuel Pump Question TFSI MK5 - Removal

So I know how to remove my pump that is not the issue.

But looking at this post on MK5GolfGTI

Look at picture 4. Now this pump has a pressure relief valve.
Well sorry to say but mine does not.

So My Question is as follows.

Once I removed the battery etc. How do I release the pressure in the pump to save myself a face full of petrol?

If you don't have a schrader bleed valve here then just slowly and carefully unscrew the brass fitting till you hear a hiss, then stand back and let the pressure bleed off over a few minutes before proceding. It's wise to put a rag as shown to absorb the petrol that will come out.

Without traction power is nothing!

thanks for that, Will give that a try within the next day or so. If I get a chance otherwise the weekend it will have to be. :happy2:

Still wondering If I'm removing the pump, I may as well install HPFP while I'm there. Hmmm decisions, decisions.

If removing the pump, take extra care when trying to disconnect the electrical connector from the top of the pump as the plastic piece on the pump is not robust.

Best way I have found with any of the Electrical Plugs is to push them on a little further, then release the catch.  Seems to work everytime for me.  :happy2:

Done mine this afternoon, was pretty easy. No leaking fuel which is always a good thing.
But did find a hair line fracture across the sensor on top?

I guess pump replacement?

Otherwise I had a banjo fitting and nut for the bottom two connections. Will post photo's to orris sometime.

Not absolutely necessary as lots of guys in the US have this problem and run without issues.

SLight high jack but whilst were on the subject of pumps, has ANYONE noticed a different sort of higher pitched noise coming from the HPFP area when accelerating?
Im worried its not fitted properly! I feel i can hear it more at the moment but that prob because i have just fitted a twintake and removed the engine cover! any help is much appreciated!

Can you describe the sound a little better? It sounds to me like the harmonics that presents itself with some intake kits.
But in all honesty it appears to be car specific more so than the intake kit itself.

It was making a smallish high pitched sound when i accelerate and stop when i was either up to speed or stopped accelerating but it happened before the intake was put on. im gonna change the cam follower on Monday to see if that helps!
