I was told on saturday that the current time for transfers and retention at my local DVLA office is currently 4 weeks!

I  Would've thought it would be the same, pop down there and they would issue a new MOT ticket and tax disc with the old reg on and just wait for the new log book to come through the post.

You have to put the plate on retention, which cost £105 last time i did it, they keep your docs in the office and send out new mot and tax disc normally with 10-14 days depending on dvl a office then new reg doc can take up too 4weeks to come in.

When the plate is on retention it includes transfer fee so there is no charge to apply to new vehicle.

Putting a private number onto a car is normally done on the day but retention takes a little longer. Length of time depends mainly on your local office.

10-14 last time I did it, not the best timing though this last week with new car registrations I expect so could be a few days delay due to that.

i took mine off in may and got everything including the log book back in 8 or 9 days, the Local offices used to be able to do it there and then but now docs have to be sent to Swansea or some head office iirc,
And you might be waiting a few days longer with it being september and new reg time  :happy2:

It will take 3-4 weeks for your log book to come back, the GTTdi I have just bought is still on the private plate with the private tax disc etc.
