hello all
« on: July 24, 2011, 02:10:41 pm »
Firstly hello fellow vag owners and car people alike. :drinking:
My names Jason I am 24 and a mechanic from the Bristol/Bath area and currently own a Mk5 Gti and a Mk2 Gti.(only ever have Polos before)

The Mk2 Gti (H-plate) is my show car, only goes out in the sun and dry.(having spent nearly 10k on it)

The Mk5 Gti (57-plate) tho is my weekend and Sensible car! as i have a work van for the week. (pictures to follow when i sort my camera out)

My girlfriend drives a Lupo Sport and my Parents have a mk5 tdi aswell so the whole family love VW's (Dads a paint sprayer)
Iv had the mk2 since 2006 and got my mk5 beginning of 2010. I got the car with 12k on the clock currently at 18k.
The car was suppose to be staying standered, but as with all my cars that hasn't been the case, currently only a few mods such as a Pipercross panel filter and a Forge DV set at 50%open/closed, also a set of Apex 35mm springs just to bring the arch down a little without making it undriveable.and od course painted the rear bumper(what were vw thinking when they left it back)
I now have the taste for modding the mk5 even more, I am hopping to fit a Forge twin intake and either a turbo back or cat back milltek/blueflame exhaust.
Then a remap and some hoses maybe even a front mount. Only problem is i am also saving for a house so its going to be a long process.Any tips / experience with the mods above would be very helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to listen hope to be in contact with you all and meet at any shows.
Jas

p.s pictures of the car as it is now to follow in week

Get the house first mate is my biggest tip. The thought of mods on the car always out weighs the feeling once you have them! It will never be a 911 Turbo so dont go made. A remap will be just fine, anything after that will leave you a little disappointed.

This is talking from experience and someone who wants a 911 TT!!

yes this is true and that's why iv had it a year pretty standered but i work my ass off at the weekends for a little extra spending money so hoping to treat myself from time to time. and the girlfriend has treated me to the mods so far.

Looks really nice mate.
Polo looks OK too, just not a fan of the rear lower bumper.

That MK2 is really nice, wish I had the ability to do painting myself too.

Hold on and just do small mods for the time being, once you have a house just look at how much  you have left over to do the big mods then.

hi, thanks for the coments i must admit the polo was only my 2hd car and i didnt quite mod it right but went well for a chipped up 1.9tdo sport at 18years old. Anyway sorted the house managed to get on a new home to own thing so only need small depo. Gona get the mods sorted before a map i think just gota decide between twin intake or cat back first????

twintake, or buy a cat back, remove the dp you have a chissel out the car, pretty much giving you a full system just dont expect and mot pass!

Welcome, that Mk2 is a beaut, still has a very desirable look to it even after two decades. Not many cars can claim that.

Regards,

John

Welcome  :happy2:

A couple of very nice GTI's you have there.

I have had two MK2 GTI's in the past and loved them. Want to build a 16v on carbs one day
