Passed one of these on the road the other day. Clocked the big brakes and Team Dynamics straight away.
I assumed it was just modded. Turns out it's a limited edition diesel (only 100 built)
Anyway it was tidy looking! Normally can't stand Astras either.

Performance is near on identical to the VXR astra 247bhp brethren ..

Yup, AP 4 piston calipers! Apparently 200 brake and 330 ft lbs torque. And still 40+ mpg!
Mind you drove my brother in law's VXR the other day - it was really quick but holy torque steer!! :driver:

They also did a (999) T9 version which came with BBS CH rims. This was on 5 door models aswel. T8 was just on the 3 door models.

The video is quite impressive...



I very nearly bought one a while back but the Astra's seem to have a reputation for the turbos eating themselves. Also it was said the brake discs were prone to cracking so I didnt fancy a bill for that either.

They have uprated suspension, 4 pots, 1.2s and exhaust I believe...with the remap of course.

My local vauxhall dealer Thurlby motors used to do a "Thurlby box" that would turn a 150hp diesel into a 200hp one for £300, there's loads of local cars running them, Thurlby motors also tried a even more powerful 250hp version of the triple 8 called the stealth but they kept blowing up so they scrapped that model...
The triple 8 has a button that can make the car run at 150 for economic rides out, then engage the button for those 50 extra horses

These will prob be the Astras that use the FIAT 1.9 TDI motor then if memory serves.

I think it runs at 165 (15 up from the SRi it's based on) normally then when you press the 'sport' button you get the 200 bhp.

Its 160 in standard then 200 with the Sport button on. I used to have the Standard 150 Astra which wasnt bad for a 19 year old then I saw the light come 22 and got an Edition 30  :signLOL:


It is the Fiat or Alfa engine as they like to market it. Know loads of people that have had the turbos blow up due to the power theyre pushing through it with the 'tuning boxes'.

ABYSS on VAGOC is the owner of AON (Astra Owners Network) and he peddles loads of the DTUK (Diesel Tuning UK - His company) boxes through that site. I had one at one point and it was impressive but I cant imagine it being too good for the engine...I wont go into it too much as everyone has their own opinion on them.

If I remember correctly, you remove the sensor on the common rail and then connect it via the 'tuning box' so effectively it over fuels the engine without changing timing and boost.

If properly mapped the 1.9 fiat unit can do decent reliable power as has been shown by the 888 and many prooven tuners. I have a FIAT/Alfa fanatic friend who runs tunned fiats and his mate has a 1.9 running stupid reliable power, has done for many years now.
Mind i have no idea if Vauxhall did the engine install properly or did a SAAB  :grin: The FIAT engines are failing in the SAABs but not the FIAT or Alfa's as SAAB fitted too small a radiator... Doh...
