I think the Ed30 is a keeper.
My view is that the Mk5 was a proper Gti and somewhat of a return to form for the marque/model.
Cannot remember who was in charge at Volkswagen then, (Ferdinand Piech?) but Mk5 GTi was something he wanted right after the Mk3/Mk4 models. I seem to remember he was a right petrolhead.
Then the 30 year version and also the Pirelli improved that even more.
Personally I like the half leather/tartan look of the seats and the spoked BBS wheels they came on, so for me I prefer the Eddy rather than the Pirelli, accepting the latter is a rare beast.
Of course being just a normal car it will depreciate, but it's a nice thing to drive, after 4 and a half years it still makes me chuffed to own it. Honestly I don't especially like the Mk6 look myself, only the R appeals as it's 4WD.
Just my view.
