Mike, how about getting one of those wheel nut bars so that you can pop your alloys on and off with far less risk of damage. Sorry, I forgot what they are called but Awesome GTI sell them - I'll have a hunt for you and post a link if I'm successful. I find it very useful.
Can't find it on Awesome's huge site. It's an aluminium bar, about 6" long, threaded at one end same as a wheel bolt. It allows you to 'thread' the wheel on and off the hub without risking damage to either calipers or alloy etc and it also helps position the wheel more accurately: Use it at the uppermost bolt and work opposite positions in the usual way.
