Head light sounds like submachine gun
« on: July 25, 2011, 11:28:09 pm »
Hi guys,

Please any one. My left front head light is making a clicking noise that is fast and loud. Does anyone now why?

Does it mean purchacing a new control unit, I am stuck in southern Spain and dont speak Spanish.

Cheers

David

Hi I have a Golf GTI Mk5  on a 55 plate. I was told by a garage that it is the lights motor that is making the noise. Do head lights have motors? What do they do? My head light still works

Many thanks Dave

Well it depends whether it is a Bi-xenon headlight or halogen headlight. The latter has a basic range adjustment motor, the former has a self levelling motor with xenon shutters.

If they are xenons then pull the fuse and it will stop, you can fix it when you get bac. If your coming back which I wouldn't if I was you

You can usually tell what's at fault if you face the car on to a wall...If the lights look too high then the front sensor has failed if its too low then its the rear sensor. If its just a motor in the headlight then that can be replaced aswell.
