With such a low deviation in compression I wouldn't worry too much.

The worst that could happen if there is any cylinder bore scoring is that they will bed in, damage the piston seals and you'll need new rings quicker due to oil usage going up.
Golf R gone.

Your pictures bring back bad memories:

What is your compression for each cylinder. As far as I know VW allows for up to 3 bar difference between cylinders.

between 184 and 185PSI.  VW aloy 10% difference so 18PSI  :surprised:

Just changed the brake pads on the car.

First thoughts....Tarox brakes dont wear evenly, and the DS2500 crumbles when too hot.  On of the pads has probably 75% of the pad material missing  :surprised: . On a positive mod, they are the easiest brakes i have ever had to change a pad on.

Now running Mintex M1144 pads.

A faulty/broken ring could cause that damage to the piston, I reckon

Glad to see things are back together mate :happy2:

I wanted DS3000 but needed pads urgently so M1144s filled the void.  Next pad will be a more track orientated one.

So what is the spec now, and whats changed to prevent it happening again? (or just built/apped properly?)

The full spec is as below:

APR Stage 3 with Stock, 95, 98 and 98+ Meth programs, as well as security lockout & fault code erase.
LOBA LO270 Turbo
Wossner Pistons (OEM CR)
Pace Products Intercooler
Pace Products Radiator
VWR (ITG) intake
VWR (Miltek) 200 cell downpipe with stock cat back.
Okada plasma coilpacks
BKR8EIX spark plugs
Devils Own water methanol Injection
VWR Springs
Superpro poly bushed chassis
H&R front and rear ARBs
Tarox 6 Pot 323mm brakes with Mintex M1144 pads
TD1.2 alloys wrapped in Federal 595RSR tyres.

The piston issue should be resolved now that were running a stronger design.  Evidently the misfire wasnt a result of the low compression, so if changing the valve springs turn out to not be the source of the problem then the coice is keep the stage 3 running lower boost to the redline, or revert back to the stock turbo and keep the car at stage 2 instead.
