I suppose how well a pad works will be dependent on lots such as the weight of the car, brake bias, type of discs( 1 or 2 piece) cooling etc.

Im sure if i had 2 piece discs and some cooling ducts the M1144s probably would have been much better than what they were.

The bias on mine is practically all on the front, the rears are like milk bottle tops (232mm iirc).  Think i read somewhere something like 85% front bias on the brakes.    Plus the XDS uses the brakes to imitate(poorly) a LSD which will also compound the issue.

Just change the pads out when you do track days, it is only a half hour job. Then you get the best of both worlds.

Cooking pads (which you have certainly done) affects them in different ways, some melt onto the discs, some turn to coal and break up. The key is to try and work out what operating range your stoppers have and then buy a pad to suit... Or, get some cooling sorted.

That Clio 200 I had only had 4 pot Brembos and 312s, and the would stop all day on track. I'm guessing your car is lighter too? You've got the hardware, you just have to make them work right.

There's temp paint or see if someone will lend you an infra red temp gauge for a day.

Personally with how cheap solid discs are these days, I'd get some aggressive pads and let them eat as many discs as they like - rather than then ruin pads or have sh*t performance.

I've used Carbotech, PF, Pagid and Carbon Lorraine. Non are cheap, but if you want to play - you've gotta pay!

its 1220kg with me in the car.  Normally I go to trackdays with a friend as well, and always leave the interior in so potentially 1300kg full laden.

An IR temp gauge will be a good idea.  Where would i take the temperatures; disc, caliper or pad?

The annoying thing with mine is at the moment i am limited to the Tarox discs which obviously have Tarox tax applied to them.  I know the caliper uses the pads from a Mk2 Leon Cupra R, so thats fine for aftermarket setup, but Tarox wont tell me what discs they are so i cant look elsewhere for discs.

Never looked into the codes before

just seen the Cupra R 1.8 Turbo 20v (18" wheels) discs have the code 0214 but has no "m" on it.  its 323x28mm though, not sure what the "m" stands for though.

I was just about to say that those are the same size as mk1 LCR discs..

Do they have an offset measurement?  If my carriers are different the central point of the caliper might not match the disc.  Things are looking good though.  This will save loads of dollar on discs.  Wonder if DaveB has 2 piece 323mm cupra discs....

Badger5 Bill can do AP 2 piece discs in 330x28 spec 5x100 and caliper spacers to push them out enough to accommodate the slightly larger disc

with the extra disc diameter will the discs not just end up with a ring of rust where the pad isnt covering the whole discs face which will then become a lip?

It's a mm more that it usually sweeps, it won't make a difference.
