Also Ferodo don't brand for anybody else, so tarox Corsa/HP1000/APF404 are not Ds2500....Just lookeylikey pads

They'll come up with something similar for OEM maybe Gallardo Rear pads are Brembo branded Ds2500  but that's all I know off that I've seen

When i phoned up and asked them about their pad size comparisons TaroxHQ told me that their Corsa pad is a DS2500 compound supplied by Ferrodo and rebranded as Tarox.

@Si

Just chuck some 55s in matey, also check the Calipers for serviceability ....billet machined Calipers are buggers for sticky pistons when hot and it won't be evident when cold.

Get Alex to send them to me or bring them to Preston and we'll do a pop and lube on them whilst you wait won't cost you anything, just hope you don't need a seal kit as they start at £300 per corner

Im moving upto the north coast of Scotland this month mate so not really a possibility.  Cheers for the offer though.  I cant imagine it would need a new seal kit yet tbh, it hadnt covered many miles on mine or hurdys car tbh.

From your list, Sy, I'd try RS4-2 blues personally - but that's mainly based on having never tried 1155s. Beddie's 1144s seemed quite good at Spa, but then he brakes like a champ, rather than dragging them for 200m and has bigger discs to soak heat. So the 1155s make sense for you, I don't think you need that much more of a step up from what you've said about Silverstone/Mallory.

Oranges, not sure you'll be ok day to day.
I don't like DS pads because of how they act once you take them beyond their range, they leech resin and judder... fine if you never get there, but a pisser if you do.
Carbon Lorraine RS5+ are very trick & fully sintered so no bedding, but you may get noise.

All this is basically heat management, which is why you can't really say what works on one is gospel. I had 340s stopping 1500kgs, Jonny has what, 2-piece 360s stopping 1300kgs?? Coupled with the fact he has a pad the size of one of SuBo's sanitary towels, it makes sense why he didn't get the same feel/performance I did with the RS29s, they were probably stone cold 90% of the time.

Splash guards off and get some air to them, even if it's just some spiral neoprene ducting held in place with metal cable ties.

Sideways yo!

Cheers TD.

Ducting and splash guards are definitely the first option to consider, especially since its practically pennies to get done.  That might sort the issues out.  Next trackday will hopefully be at Knockhill in March, so i might leave the pad change until after ive done that to see if the ducting and splash guards have sorted it out and fade has gone.

Exactly - do the free/cheap stuff first and then go from there. You can't just throw money at a problem  :happy2:

That's good advice and the 55s will be 1/2 the price of the Blues....

Your not wrong there

Mintex M1144 £114
Mintex M1155 £116
Tarox Corsa   £152
DS2500         £152
DS3000         £180
RS4-2 Blue    £222
RS29 Yellows £278

looking up the literature:

M1144 pads stay consistent upto 450oC, whereas M1155 pads have the same friction levels as a M1144 pad however they stay consistent upto 550-600oC.

How come Mintex pads are so cheap though?  Are they known for crumbling or something.

If you used a 2ft 3ft Diameter hole saw where my bench is at work I would fall down into a big 1 tonne bag of M1155 Compound mix right next to the presses, they have pretty high wear rates but you have to consider the target market....theyre not producing these for road cars, clubman style competitiors might buy two sets per season.

The dies and moulds and back plates have all been around for 30 years or more.

To anybody considering Mintex If you're expecting pretty colours, wear sensors and rubber backing to keep them quiet in a fancy box Mintex Racing pads arent the way to go!

I was going to get some R32/S3 pads made in F2 just for the crack, in fact next time theirs a forum auction I'll have the winner down to Rochdale to hit the button on the presses and he can make himself a custom bespoke one off set of pads....

And yeas we supply to AMD    :ashamed:

Temp range looks ideal, that's masses more headroom for little if any trade off.  :happy2:

As Dave says, there'll be no fancy titanium shims etc you'd get on the blues, but you can fudge it.

3M shims and Ceratec
