Similar with the Clio 200 i had. Great in the corners, but sh*te on the straights.

Sorry to hear of yet more problems with the Fabia. Are you tempted to wait for the new Octy vRS estate?

Estate would be great for dogging  :innocent:.  Im not buying new, not unless there is a spectacular deal on.  I more inclined with the two second hand cars route, then when one breaks or is having work done to it, im not without a car, as i am right now.

And it frees up loads of cash to go into a house instead.  Plus bizarly its cheaper for me to insure a 7 year old 3.5 litre diesel Merc E class and a Clio 172 than it is to insure my Fabia with all its mods

Im intrigued what i can buy for £3500-4000.  two cars: 1 Family bus(preferbaly diesel) the other a track hack thats cheap to run and maintain.

Or stop trying to bolt a small power station onto the side of a piece of cheese.

If i was a tuning company right now, i think id completely remove myself from the 1.4 TFSI game.

I'd make them handle, but anything power related..........step away...........

REVO did.  They wont go past stage 2. That still doesnt alter the fact that the steering rack has failed on mine though.

Have VW strengthened the 1.4 TSI on 2012/13 models following all the failures of the earlier engines?

On paper it seems a great little engine, 50+mpg, 180bhp and cheap tax. . . .

NOW: 2015 Golf R DSG 5 Door, Lapiz Blue, 19s, Discover Nav, Reversing Camera
GONE:2007 Black GTI Edition 30 3dr

it is a great engine.  its a work of art, but its not a reliable engine.  The CAVE engine has now been superceded by the CTHE engine, which is basically the same but with all the updates to pistons/rings/fuel pumps./ injectors now included.  They still have had a few guys with the same oil burning issues, not sure about ngine failures, but i reckon over the last 6 months there must be nearly 20 people with unmodified low mileage cars that have had new engines installed and thats just one sub section of briskoda.  there are loads on the likes of SCn etc as well.

Something to make you laugh, Skoda now sell this car accompanied with a 3L bottle of oil in the boot lol

Buy a passat/passat diesel estate and a clio 182.

Sorted

Thats something I have looked at.  :happy2:

The Polo GTI was the only car I've had that drank oil between services. 1ltr every 2.5k miles, and that was good compared to some that drank a litre every 600 miles. VW even said a litre every 1000 km was "normal"!!!

It is scary Sy just how much has been going wrong with these small engines, which is a pity as like you say, they would be great engines if they were reliable. :happy2:

Golf R gone.
