Full autotech install guide.

Sorry if there is already a guide but I have looked and couldnt find it! Im after a FULL install guide for the autotech HPFP internals. I am running these internals but i feel they are making a funny high pitched noise. Ive looked on autotechs site and although they give you a guide once the pump is off, they dont tell you how to get the pump off!!

Ive changed my cam follower which is easy but taking the pump off will leave me with fuel pissing all over the place, help needed if poss!!

Thanks Carl thats a good help, just worried that when the new internals were fitted im sure the guy (bit shbit place really) clamped the fuels lines? would this sound right! DOnt wanna take it off and end up covered in 98Ron! haha

Dont do anything like that when doing the cam follower.  Just relieve the excess fuel / fuel pressure with the valve on the HPFP and have a cloth ready then DONT open the drivers door as this primes the fuel pump!  Then you could end up with fuel over you.

I changed the cam follower the other day and that was pretty simple. I bought my internals from PD Tuning and they sent me in the direction of a BMW place in West London :stupid: to be honest I wasn't happy they installed correctly as the guy had to keep phoning people to do it! Wanna take the whole thing off and check it out! All I keep readin is that the bench must be clean and his defo was not!!

I just want to take the pump off and check it out, just worried the thing will leak fuel once its off! But from what you guys are saying as long as I DON'T open the drivers door, I should be ok!?

That's a really good guide, used it for the cam follower but I left the rubber hose on which is the left hand side pipe fearing that was holding the fuel back!

with every connection you undo on the fuel pump you are going to get some leakage , its not a lot and will stop to a drip.
As Mike says just use a cloth under each connection to soak up the fuel , if you ca try to keep the black rubber hose upright , so not so much fuel comes out.
once the pressure is relieved its only a trickle anyway.
1 quick note dont get too paranoid after refitting if you smell fuel , its probably just some that you missed with the cloth , start the car and let it idle for a few good minutes and finger wipe each joint checking for leaks.

Cheers fellas! So just to confirmi can take the whole pump completey off without fuel PISSING and I mean spraying out all over me, without having to clamp any lines?? Sorry to keep on! Just wanna get it right!

no clamping of the lines!! just follow the guide on relasing the pressure, no fuel will spray out. Just do it, it is really quite simple, with the guide in hand. If you have a probem during the operation get online im sure someone will help!!
