Front brake calipers and bells/hubs done today.............under an umbrella!

did well considering you left them on.  did you think about a different colour?

I did think about doing them red as the front calipers are indentical to the GTi/vRS, but I want to keep this car as low key and subtle as possible.  In my youth I modded a lot of cars and most of them had a 'moody' feel, which I really like.  

My vRS is a good example -



Tbh it was quite easy using a no.10 flat artist brush and a bit of patience, I didn't mask anything up, just removed the retaining clip.  The most difficult part was balancing the umbrella on the garage door as it starting pishing down half way through.

I managed to access a ETKA pdf yesterday and found 2 part numbers - 1K6 131 300 or 1K6 131 301.  No expert with ETKA so I might have it wrong.

Darkside Developments EGR delete kit arrived Saturday -



Had a spare couple of hours last night so I had a crack at fitting it.  Not as easy as it looks, especially when trying to undo the bolt at the back of the unit, space is extremely limited.  But after a lot of patience, success -



I OE valve was a bit crusty but not as bad as some I've seen -



First impressions, the car doesn't feel as sluggish when pulling away and no CEL.........yet.

I've seen a few people do this but unsure why, is yours a 140/170 mines a 170.

My is only the PD140.

During the first 20-30k the EGR will perform efficently, but when they get clogged up with crud (like mine) it can affect performance and economy due mainly to restricted air flow.  You could remove your EGR and soak it in petrol or carb cleaner, then refit it.   But it will get caked again, with the delete pipe in place you get a smoother air flow which will stop the nastiness.......

It definitely has improved throttle response and pick up, I can't comment on mpg as I uploaded a Shark remap tonight which will improve it anyway.

Pagey there is a little rubber pipe that goes in the side of the EGR valve, what do you do with it once the delete pipe is in place?

That's a the vacuum hose which is no longer required when the delete pipe is installed so it just gets blanked with one of the spare bolts.
