As above, round yellow foam pads are fine. There's some megs ones in halfrauds which will do. Quick light mist with a quick detailer spray on the pad, load the pad with wax, apply thinly as you can. It should be barely perceptible.
Most waxes tell you wait until it hazes over before buffing but IMO this is usually far too long. I use the finger swipe test - if you can leave a clean mark with your finger, it's ready for buffing.
Wax one panel eg one door, then wax another panel eg second door, then go back and buff the first one. Stops the wax hardening too much which makes it a chore to buff.
Once you've done this to your car, it's worth dampening a microfibre cloth with quick detailer and use this to buff the whole car.
