Nothing substantial to update but this weekend I thought I'd give the car a bloody good clean especially the exhaust tips as they were black!

Here's a comparison to see what they did look like and what they should look like

...and here's what they looked like completely polished up

They are by no means 'brand new' clean but look a lot better than before. For anyone else thinking of polishing the tips up all I used was Autosol, purchased from Halfords, for just under a tenna and used some ultra fine polishing sand paper (4000 & 8000), it took the stubborn carbon build up right off  :happy2:

Here's a few of the car all polished up

Apologies for the crap quality of pictures, camera is getting old now bless it  :laugh: New one me thinks.

Cheers guys. Mike, no there isn't unfortunately, however it was warm & sunny when I did them. The job itself only took about 30mins and that was, I assume, 3 and a bit years of build up to shift, I plan to give the tips a quick scrub everytime she gets a polish up to keep on top of it  :happy2:

Hows that Leon of yours coming along?

Cheers mate, got a few more in the pipeline very soon just waiting for bits to arrive.

As for the Ed30 badge, as mentioned above, eBay. I paid just under £12 posted. It's just the rear badge stuck on to the front grill. It bonds very well, I've had several pressure washes and no dramas. It's a nice subtle touch to the front so bag yourself one!

Just some more subtle touches to the interior.

R32 wing mirror adjuster & master window switch.

Here's a pic of the old set up;

Using these tools I then carefully up-clipped the trim;

*Note the 2 metal clips running parallel with the trim, this is where you need to locate to lift the trim from situ.

*Same as above with the metal clip

All of the old switches removed from the trim;

New shiny switches to go in;

New switches fitted & trim clipped back in to place;

All in all it took about 30mins to do & parts came in at 28 quid for the window switch (eBay) and the wing mirror adjuster 25 quid from VW.

Vast improvement having the chrome window switches.
Have you ordered one of the petrol cap release ones too?

Hi mate, switches looking good, I saw someone else fit these on another forum and thought they looked great, gonna order a full set from USA after christmas, saw a shop selling the full set for around £109 i think it was, thats for the main panel (4 windows switches, mirroro switch), Fuel switch and 3 seperate window switches, i thought thtta was a good price anyway.

Just taxed car today and 2 new tyres to pay for next, then front splitter painting, then stg 1 remap, then holidays then i can spend on other things like switches and save up for stage 2+, its all spend spend spend, would be easier of i could sell my old MK4 1.8T  :sad1:

Cheers  :smiley:

This is from 1st hand experience, I'd proceed with caution when purchasing the U.S spec parts. A few weeks back I bought a master window switch from the states, which was OE, but once installed it didn't work, none of the switches operated the windows, slaved the original back in and all works fine, so my advice to you would be to go with European spec parts as they will definitely work as the wing mirror adjuster I got from VW works a treat! Might be slightly more $$$ but worth it knowing you'll be getting parts that work first time and not having to deal returns etc.

So your 200+ quid lighter then  :grin:, regarding tyres, I know a MD of a tyre place in Norwich who can get me good deals on tyres, for example when I had the Scirocco it cost me for 2 Pirelli Rosso's 245/40/18 300 quid, which isn't too bad for a premium tyre. If your interested let me know what tyre you want and I can get a price if you like?

Looking forward to seeing the fresh paint job on that splitter  :happy2:

I'm having the drivers side skirt sprayed by VW next week as it hasn't, for some reason, bonded correctly, so they said we'll order a brand new skirt in from Germany, spray it up and fit for you... for FREE, ace  :jumping:
