Alternative RNS510
« on: March 23, 2009, 04:56:18 pm »
Just scouring e-Bay looking for the RNS 510 that I really want but don't fancy paying a grand for and came across this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF5-TIGUAN-PASSAT-GPS-SAT-NAV-MFD3-RNS-510-Ipod_W0QQitemZ110366082116QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems?hash=item110366082116&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1777|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Any thought's from anyone or is it best just to wait for a reasonably priced OEM unit??

Anybody got any other ideas where I could get a RNS 510 from other than e-Bay without paying a crazy amount??

Cheers

JD

There's a chap over at vwnavi who ships them in from Poland for around £800. Quite a few peeps have bought them from him. I presume he's a he.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

The problem is he works in Euro's and with the exchange rate as it is, you wont get a new one from him for less than £1000

Thanks for the info about VWNavi, but like winrya says with the s**t exchange rate it isn't going to be cheap

Look like I might just have to wait until the market starts to improve

I did think about aftermarket it but I don't fancy getting the car broken into for it and they just don't look as good as the RNS

Any other idea's???

Someone here has done a modded/concealed cover for their touchscreen HU.

Yes it was Hurdy!

I've seen similar stealth covers on other forums too.

That aftermarket one doesn't look too bad (there was a really awful Chinese imitation around after the RNS-510 came about) but OEM ftw.

/not helpful in the least.
